TIGER OF SWEDEN / JEANS
TIGER JEANS WOMAN
The Warriors is a 1979 American action thriller film directed by Walter Hill the story centers on a 1980s New York City gang.
Walter Hill’s film ‘The Warriors’ has always held a particular place in popular culture – The film picks up certain cultural elements of that time period in New York City, especially in and around the Subway system where a lot of the film was shot.
If not just for a plot that revolves solely around fights, girls, graffiti, breakdance and early hip-hop culture. The 70s a subcultural movement of hip-hop was formed by New Yorks ethnic minorities in south Bronx. The movement started with DJ Kool Herc, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, and Africa Bambaataa. We also look into gaming and gamers and the street activist as one of the more contemporary elements of the Warrior style.
T/J WOMAN Considering these “facts” of the Tiger Jeans Storytelling history it’s natural to add the Warrior’s angle to the Spring Summer 1801 collection, and as T/J like to dwell in the city, at night, so it comes natural to turn to mean streets of a nighttime metropolitan environment. We look into gamers and activists, street roaming nomads.
Sports influences informs T/JW 1980s gang-girl attitude, a style combined out of graffiti printed styles; the silhouette is originated from a street wear and active urban subculture.
The style consists of following elements: Sweatshirts and hoodies layered up with sleeveless tailoring and tagged with statement wording and all-over graffiti prints. Key pieces include a playful mix of crispy poplins and different stripes. Plisse and rib-knit pajamas sets. Up sized T-shirts layered with frilled and feminine styles. Studded Leather and patent jackets pants and skirts. Sports-taping details and logo trimmings finalize the garments. Work-wear inspired pants, dungarees and jackets influences the woven. Upsized trench coats and sleeveless blazers finalize the Night Warrior styling. Colors are more sporty and intense.
